Elaine has been a professional practitioner in Community, Further and Higher Education for over 20+ years.
Elaine began her teaching career in Further and Adult Vocational Education (FAVE) teaching Key Skills, Business, Computing and IT to adults in the largest further education college Wales. Concurrently Elaine worked across multiple authorities in Adult and Community Education teaching Independent Living Skills to adults with mild and profound learning difficulties and disabilities.
For the last 15 years, Elaine has taught in England and Wales on teacher training programmes in Higher Education, supporting student teachers in local colleges, independent training providers, workplaces and prisons. Elaine primarily taught on the Certificate, Professional Certificate and Post Graduate Certificate in Education Post Compulsory Education and Training (PcET), supporting and mentoring students in teaching placements. Elaine has also taught on the BA (Hons) PcET, including dissertation supervision and also spent a few years teaching on the BA (Hons) Initial Teacher Training for the Primary Sector.
Elaine has supported student teachers across a wide range of subjects, from care to construction, with a particular focus on student teachers of Art and Design; Film, Media and Acting; English Literature and Creative Writing.
In her role as Learning Management Systems Administrator, Elaine is drawing on this expertise and her experiences to develop engaging course content and learning materials at the Professional Writing Academy
Elaine is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Fellow of the Society for Education and Training in England and a member of the Education Workforce Council in Wales.
