We’re digital education pioneers who’ve been designing and teaching online writing courses since 2009.

We’re the team behind the world’s first fully online Master’s degree in writing, and teach on a digital learning platform we designed specifically for writers.

The skill of writing can transform lives; personally, professionally and across society. We want more people to have access to its power.

Let’s set the world to write.

Why us?

Not all online learning is created equal

We’ve developed a unique way of teaching online that’s:

Social
We won’t go into all the theoretical stuff about the social-constructivist model of learning here, but that’s the theory behind our learning design. It’s interactive small group learning, practical not theoretical, tightly structured and applied as you go.

Supportive
Our carefully selected team of tutors, moderators and mentors are not only expert writers but expert online teachers.

Transformational
Our learning engages the creative brain as well as imparting professional discipline. This is not about watching videos. It’s why 60% of our learners come back for more.

Our story

We met on a beach. Between us, we had years of experience in publishing, developing online communities and teaching writing. But we were frustrated with writing education and felt there was little on offer for writers who were unable to travel to expensive workshops or give up a year to study an MA.

We saw a different way of nurturing talent. Our vision was to create an accessible place online where writers could come to learn regardless of their background, level of experience and location. And where writers could choose their own learning path towards their goals.

Who we work with

Our partners

We work in partnership with some fantastic organisations whose specialist knowledge brings our one-of-a-kind learning to life. Like BAFTA-winning narrative expert John Yorke, whose bestselling book Into the Woods we adapted into premium online CPD training. Or leading literary consultancy Cornerstones, who – together with our team – developed the most in-depth, practical novel editing course on the market.
