Jak Harrison profile

Jak Harrison

In 2014, Jak gained a masters degree in writing for young people from Bath Spa University, England. Restless: A Novella, was written on that course, and went on to be longlisted for Undiscovered Voices, 2016 (prior to publishing) under its working title, The Silence of Secrets. Jak is very near the end of turning Restless into a longer work of fiction, although when she says ‘nearing the end’, she means she’s about to start the first edit!

Jak lives in the Cotswolds with a very energetic cockapoo, and a singing, retired fireman of a husband, and she yearns for a “room of [her] own”, where she can find some peace & quiet.

Jak is obsessed with counting steps (FitBit) and living close to the countryside, enables her to wander the canals, and woodlands near her home – which certainly helps with thinking through various storylines. Recently she started weaving (self-taught on a Saori loom) and have found the practice very useful for pondering plot points, and character development.

Having started serious studying as an adult Jak is a great believer in life-long learning and thoroughly enjoys continuing to study the craft of writing herself.

Creating fiction is not only about learning the craft, it’s also about reading as widely as possible.
