Steph Wessell

Steph is a Bristol-based series producer and director.

She makes primetime factual series and documentaries in all kinds of genres but history, arts and docudrama are particular passions – as well as anything that has a fantastic story at its heart.

Recent Series Producer roles include Unearthed: Ancient Murder Mysteries and Kate Garraway’s Life Stories. Producer and/or Director credits include Ashley Banjo: Britain in Black and White, Who Do You Think You Are?, Back In Time For School, How To Spend It Well At Christmas, Charles I: Killing A King, Elizabeth and Margaret: Love and Loyalty, Timeshift and The One Show, where she also twice-led BBC Studios’ development teams in Cardiff.

Steph nurtures production talent by giving masterclasses, mentoring, and as Co-Founder/Co-Director of BUNS – Bristol Unscripted Network. She has been a jury member on various factual television awards.

She also writes and directs fiction – some shortlisted for awards.
