John Connell

John Connell is a multi-award winning author, journalist and documentary producer.

His memoir The Cow Book (Granta Books) was a number one bestseller and won non-fiction book of the year at the Irish Book Awards. John is the co-founder and co-director of the Granard Booktown Festival in Granard County, Longford in the Irish midlands, and he was formerly a new media and storytelling lecturer at the University of Technology, Sydney, where he was also a honourary research fellow.

His documentaries have received numerous international awards and screened internationally. He is currently in development on a three-part documentary on the history of the cow, which he will write and present.

John is a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4’s A Point of View, and his latest book 12 Sheep will be released by Atlantic this April.
