Maria Lopez Castaño has been working as a screenwriter and executive producer for over 20 years. She has been the creator and writer of numerous critically acclaimed TV drama for various streaming services, from Travesuras De La Niña Mala (The Bad Girl) – which is based on the book by Nobel Prize winning writer Mario Vargas Llosa – to Valeria and Diablo Guardian.
Maria has written on TV series adapted and broadcast globally such as Gran Hotel, adapted in the US by ABC, La Otra Mirada (A Different View), Apaches, Herederos (Heirs), Tierra De Lobos (Land of Wolves), Física O Química (Physics or Chemistry) adapted in the US by Telemundo, and Los Hombres De Paco (Paco’s Men), adapted in Italy by Canale 5, among other countries.
Maria possesses a deep understanding of the international TV & film industry’s dynamics. She has recently been developing TV series and films for BAFTA, Golden Globe, and Oscar winning production companies based in the UK, the US, Brasil, Mexico, Argentina and Spain.
She also works as a story consultant for NYFA, AFI Conservatory and ECAM students and has led numerous creative writing workshops for international companies around the world.
