I found this course after discovering the brilliant book On Editing by Helen Corner-Bryant and Kathryn Price. I wondered what else the course could offer that wasn’t already covered in the book, but there was so much more. An interactive course where you deep-dive into your own and others’ work, with insight from a tutor and encouragement along the way, is a brilliant way to tackle the daunting process of editing. Time is valuable when you’re trying to write around a day job, but not a single task was superfluous – every piece we worked on was taken from our own novels – but the conclusions I drew, such as changing tense, considering a POV swap, and completely rethinking my plot and characters were invaluable and couldn’t have been achieved simply by reading books (and I’ve read them all!).
