Lee Weatherly was a marvellous tutor throughout my course. Her approach is thorough, focussed, moderate and encouraging but never pulling any punches when right and necessary. Her way of instructing, or even just expressing how she approaches her own work, is wonderfully clear and to the point.
Midge was my supervisor and the programme director during my time as a student in the MSt in Creative Writing at Cambridge University. Her teaching style is one that focuses entirely on the growth of her students, empowering us to discover the roots of what we are writing so that they may blossom on the…
The feedback has been constructive, and the sessions have been fantastic! I have used your tips and methods in my writing, like the length of sentences etc. I know they’re working because I sent an email to the team regarding some news, and someone replied, “thank you, Josh, that’s really clear”.
I’ve found the course to be one of the most transformative, enabling and encouraging experiences of my adult life. Sharing my writing in such a well structured and secure environment was the perfect way to start the next part of my journey not just as a writer, but as an author.
The course is superbly structured and delivered and I have come away with a much deeper understanding of how to really take a deep dive into the editing process to unlock the places where I’m stuck, where things are almost working, or where I know something isn’t quite right but I don’t know what.
So many thanks to Graham, experts Kate and Lesley, and our moderator for a superb course. I’ve learnt so much, had fun and managed to be pretty productive. And everyone taking the course has been stunning – talented, highly effective and generous. What a pleasure it’s been.
I loved the course and honestly feel it offered more than (just!) the insights into police procedure, which I didn’t expect. The characterisation aspects continues to be genuinely helpful and it’s improved my work a lot, so I’m most grateful. And the forensic element was even more fun then I hoped. I’ve designed training courses…
In all the years I’ve signed up for courses online I’ve never felt so much a part of a course, nor have I felt that the course itself was so ‘life-changing’ for my writing. At last I recognise where I am succeeding and where I’m failing.
I have looked at the Faber and Faber courses a number of times but was uncertain about how effective online learning would be. Last weekend I took part in the short story online course and I got so much out of that. It showed me how quickly you could build a community online and how…
Graham gave me detailed feedback on my story with advice on making the relationships, reactions, and procedure more realistic. Best of all, this was all done with a lot of encouragement and sensitivity to keeping the integrity of my story. Now I feel like I have something that is both action-packed and factually accurate.
I simply couldn’t have written my novel, Three Hours, without Graham’s help. He was able to give me detailed factual information, which was invaluable, but also to help with what I was trying to achieve in a more creative way…I wholeheartedly recommend him to any author lucky enough to work with him.
